Wedding Ring Settings

Once you have settled on the precious metal your wedding ring will be made of, you must
choose the wedding ring settings.
Diamonds are by far the most popular gemstones used in wedding
rings. In fact, over 70% of all wedding proposals include a diamond engagement ring. The
wedding ring settings are how the stones are held in the band, and if you think there are only
just a few possibilities, you are mistaken.
With so many diamond wedding rings, you can just
imagine the huge variety of settings available, and that makes the process of choosing a ring
that much harder. Below is a list of the different wedding ring settings that are available:
Bezel/Flush - These wedding ring settings protect the gemstone, encasing it deep in the
mounting so only the table of the gem is showing. Jewelers especially like this setting as
it creates clean and modern lines. If your wife-to-be is an active person, this ring setting
would suit her best as she can rest assured that her diamonds are secure.
Channel - This is often used in combination with other settings. The gems are mounted in
channels along the band and shoulder.
Prong - The Tiffany style is a classic example of the prong
wedding ring setting. With
this particular setting, you have your choice of 4 or 6 platinum claws.
Four claws gives the illusion of your diamond floating in space. Six claws
is more secure, but doesn't reveal the diamond the way the 4 prong setting
does. The prong setting is particularly susceptible to dirt and grime
that can even can kill the brilliance of the diamond.
Pave - (Pronounced Pa Vey). This word essentially means cobblestone, or pavement Very small
(and fortunately, cheap) diamonds adorn the band in clusters, creating wonderful accents and a
look of glitter.
